June 2024 Newsletter

Good afternoon

Although we may be putting a hold on the summer weather at the moment, nothing is on hold in the world of health care, with more practices, PCNs and private clinics than ever reaching out to us for CQC help; be it workshops, webinars, mock inspections, CQC registrations and more, as well as PCNs reaching out to us for project and interim capacity management support. Whatever it may be, we have you covered!

As usual, we are running our free PCN Manager’s chat on the first Monday of the month, and our CQC in General Practice chat on the last Thursday of the month. You can book on to these via the Events Page on our website.

As always at DKJ, if you have any questions or want to chat about anything, please get in touch with us any time!

Lets Discuss the Single Assessment Framework

What have we learned so far?

The Single Assessment Framework has been in place for several months now. Here’s what we’ve observed from the practices we’ve been working with…

From the practices we have been working with CQC have initially concentrated on the Responsive Key Lines Of Enquiry, with prompts around access. Areas which CQC have been covering include:

  • Managing Demand and Access to Appointments: Ensuring systems are in place to effectively manage patient demand and appointment availability.
  • Triage Management: Assessing how practices handle triage arrangements to prioritise patient needs.
  • Preventing Digital Exclusion: Making sure all patients, regardless of digital capability, can access the care and support they need.
  • Determining Clinical Urgency: Evaluating how practices determine the urgency of clinical appointments.
  • Continuity of Care: Ensuring patients receive consistent and continuous care.
  • Information and Access: Providing clear information to help people understand how to access services.
  • Patient Population Views: Understanding and incorporating feedback from the practice’s patient population.
  • Engagement with Partners: Collaborating with partners, including Primary Care Networks (PCN) and Integrated Care Boards (ICB), regarding access to services.

Assessment Methods

The CQC has conducted most assessments remotely. This has involved:

  • Looking at interviews with the provider and members of staff online
  • Reviewing patient feedback from a variety of sources
  • Requesting evidence from the practices
  • Reviewing already held data
  • Seeking information and feedback from partners
