Is your Primary Care Network thinking of becoming a limited company?

We have been going through the incorporation process with several primary care networks and has developed a handy ‘Things to Consider when Becoming a Limited Company’ checklist.

The first question we always ask all member practices is what is the function of the PCN?  Is it to:

  • the deliver on the DES?
  • bid for primary care contracts which may be coming up?
  • will the PCN limited company employ staff or will it use the Federation or lead practice model?
  • are all member practices ready and happy to become a PCN limited company?
  • will you be delivering services which need registering with the CQC?

All of these questions should be asked before the legal, financial, compliance and business issues are considered.
