Since March 2026, the CQC has been running its Returning to Good and Outstanding Providers Programme, reassessing GP practices that haven’t been inspected for several years. The programme has now evolved, with CQC introducing an enhanced assessment approach for some eligible practices – bringing routine clinical review into scope for the first time.
