March 2026 Newsletter
Good Morning
Welcome to our March newsletter. This month weâre highlighting key updates in CQC registration and sharing practical opportunities to help you stay on track with compliance.
We are continuing to see changes to the CQC registration process, and many applications are still being delayed or rejected due to avoidable documentation issues. Common problems include missing or outdated policies, inconsistencies between documents and regulated activities, and evidence that does not clearly meet current requirements. Ensuring your core documents are complete, relevant and up to date before submission can help prevent significant delays.
This week we are hosting a Deep Dive session delivered by our partners at Clinical Rx, focusing on how CQC inspectors use clinical system searches to assess medicines optimisation. The session will cover how inspectors review coding accuracy, patient monitoring, structured medication reviews, and responses to MHRA and national safety alerts.
We are also launching Pathfinder Live Sessions, available exclusively to DKJ Pathfinder subscribers. These free work-along sessions will help you make real progress on your CQC evidence inside DKJ Pathfinder, with step-by-step guidance from our team and the opportunity to learn alongside other Pathfinder users. Please head over to our events page to book your place on these sessions now.
As always at DKJ, if you have any questions or want to chat about anything, please get in touch with us any time!

CQC New Registration - The Roadmap to Registration
CQC registration is a legal requirement, not an administrative formality. Carrying out regulated activities without registration is a criminal offence, and providers must be fully prepared before applying. Recent changes – including the Single Assessment Framework and new application processes – mean registration is now more detailed and evidence-based than in the past.
Successful registration starts with clear governance. Providers must appoint a Nominated Individual responsible for strategic oversight and a Registered Manager responsible for day-to-day operations. Even where one person holds both roles, CQC will assess each responsibility separately.
Providers must also clearly define their regulated activities and ensure their Statement of Purpose, policies and application details align exactly. Registration is activity-specific, and inconsistencies are a common cause of delays.
Applications now require careful preparation, as many submissions are completed using manual templates rather than the digital portal. Errors, outdated documents or missing information can lead to rejection.
CQC also expects providers to demonstrate financial sustainability through a Financial Viability Statement and supporting forecasts, showing the service can operate safely even before income is established.
Finally, Registered Managers must complete a competency-based interview, demonstrating how policies and procedures would be applied in real situations.
With the right preparation and clear alignment between governance, documentation and service scope, CQC registration becomes a structured and manageable process rather than a source of delay.
