At the recent PCD webinar ‘Primary Care Networks – becoming a Limited Company’ it is quite clear that there is a shift towards primary care networks (PCN) considering whether they should become a limited company.

We, at DKJ, have been receiving lots of queries about whether a PCN needs to register with CQC as an organisation should they go down the limited route.  So what is the answer?  Generally, a PCN is a grouping of practices who do not provide services however if an organisation provides a regulated activity – this covers a whole range of services – then they will be required to register with the CQC.  When setting up a limited company, PCN’s may consider setting up and delivering services such as phlebotomy or dermatology services for example therefore this may require CQC registration.

We have supported PCN’s with their registration process including preparing the relevant documents, undertaking the online process and supporting, where required, the Registered Manager process.
